{"id":9626,"date":"2012-05-11T13:16:47","date_gmt":"2012-05-11T20:16:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=9626"},"modified":"2012-05-11T13:16:47","modified_gmt":"2012-05-11T20:16:47","slug":"obama-administration-sends-message-fo-contempt-and-disrespect-to-congress-members-regarding-weapons-to-bahrain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=9626","title":{"rendered":"Obama Administration sends message fo contempt and disrespect to Congress members regarding weapons to Bahrain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Administration Renews Bahrain Weapons Sale<\/strong><br \/>\n11 May, 2012 &#8211; POMED<\/p>\n<p>Citing national security interests, Victoria Nuland, spokesperson for the State Department, released a statement which details the Administration\u2019s decision to \u201crelease additional items and services for the Bahrain Defense Force, the Coast Guard, and the National Guard for the purpose of helping Bahrain maintain its external defense capabilities.\u201d According to Nuland, while taking into consideration \u201ca number of serious unresolved human rights issues\u2026the Government of Bahrain needs to address,\u201d the items that will be released are not intended for use in crowd control. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed similar sentiment days prior, saying \u201cthat much work remains to fully address ongoing human rights issues.\u201d Nuland blamed the Government of Bahrain and the opposition for the ongoing violence, and urged both sides to work together.<\/p>\n<p>While the Administration has recently released \u201cadditional items and services\u201d to the Bahrain Navy, this action comes after H.J. Res. 80 attempted to suspend the sale.
