{"id":7020,"date":"2012-03-12T12:15:03","date_gmt":"2012-03-12T19:15:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=7020"},"modified":"2012-03-12T12:15:03","modified_gmt":"2012-03-12T19:15:03","slug":"syria-conflict-sprials-into-accusation-and-counter-accuations-civilian-massacres-evident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=7020","title":{"rendered":"Syria conflict sprials into accusation and counter accuations, Civilian Massacres Evident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Syrian opposition: International military intervention \u2018urgent\u2019 following Homs killings<\/strong><br \/>\nBy Liz Sly &#8211; 12 March, Washington Post<\/p>\n<p>BEIRUT \u2014 The brutal killings of dozens of women and children in the central Syrian city of Homs prompted the council representing Syria\u2019s opposition to call on Monday for \u201curgent\u201d international military intervention to protect civilians as diplomatic efforts to resolve the country\u2019s escalating conflict faltered.<\/p>\n<p>The Syrian National Council, the deeply divided umbrella group whose efforts to unite the Syrian opposition have failed in part because of divisions over the issue of military intervention, issued the call after videos showing the mutilated corpses of at least 45 victims were posted overnight on the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>Activists said the videos offered evidence of what they called a massacre of civilians who supported the opposition by pro-government militias.
