{"id":6712,"date":"2012-03-04T20:20:49","date_gmt":"2012-03-05T03:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=6712"},"modified":"2012-03-04T20:20:49","modified_gmt":"2012-03-05T03:20:49","slug":"saudis-rally-against-riyadh-suppression-of-protests-in-east","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=6712","title":{"rendered":"Saudis rally against Riyadh suppression of protests in east"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Saudis rally against Riyadh suppression of protests in east<\/strong><br \/>\nPress TV &#8211; 3 March, 2012 <\/p>\n<p>Saudis have staged a protest rally in the eastern town of Rabiyia to condemn Riyadh\u2019s suppression of anti-government demonstrations.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstrators also expressed solidarity with the victims\u2019 of government crackdown on protests in the Eastern Province.<\/p>\n<p>Qatif and Awamiyah have been the centers of anti-government protests in the oil-rich region since last year, but despite a violent crackdown on demonstrations there, it seems that protests are now spreading to other towns and cities in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Saudi troops have arrested at least 25 demonstrators over the past week.
