{"id":6077,"date":"2012-02-17T19:43:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-18T02:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=6077"},"modified":"2012-02-17T19:43:00","modified_gmt":"2012-02-18T02:43:00","slug":"bahrain-village-attacks-and-detentions-by-security-forces-intensify","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=6077","title":{"rendered":"Bahrain Village Attacks and Detentions by Security Forces Intensify"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Bahraini security forces launch overnight crackdown<\/strong><br \/>\n17 February, 2012 &#8211; PressTV<\/p>\n<p>Saudi-backed Bahraini security forces have launched a fierce overnight crackdown on anti-regime protesters across several regions of the country, Press TV reports.<\/p>\n<p>Bahraini security forces broke up demonstrations with tear gas and stun grenades in Daih, Ma&#8217;ameer, Sitra, Sehla, and several other villages on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, large numbers of police used water cannons to try to disperse thousands of protesters who had staged a demonstration to mourn the death of a teenage protester in the village of Jidd Hafs, east of the capital Manama.<\/p>\n<p>Activists say 19-year-old Hussain al-Baqhalai died of burn wounds sustained in an anti-regime demonstration which was held on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, regime forces attacked a group of female protesters in the village of Qadam and raided several homes and detained opposition protesters in the village of Sanabis near Manama.<\/p>\n<p>The Bahraini security forces have also increased their presence in and around Pearl Square, which is now known as Martyrs Square.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds more arrested or fired from their jobs since the beginning of Bahrain\u2019s popular uprising in February 2011.  <a href=\"Bahraini security forces launch overnight crackdown\" target=\"_blank\">&#8230;source<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"igit_tsb_button\" style=\"float: left; margin-right: 10px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/share?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crookedbough.com%2F%3Fp%3D6077&amp;text=Bahrain+Village+Attacks+and+Detentions+by+Security+Forces+Intensify&amp;count=horizontal&amp;via=\" style=\"\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bahraini security forces launch overnight crackdown 17 February, 2012 &#8211; PressTV Saudi-backed Bahraini security forces have launched a fierce overnight crackdown on anti-regime protesters across several regions of the country, Press TV reports.
