Cuba: 3 Dissidents Are Released, Rights Group Says

Amnesty International said Monday that three antigovernment protesters held without charge for 52 days were released last week, hours after the human rights group identified them as prisoners of conscience. They were released Friday, a day after a hunger-striking dissident died, prompting condemnation from dissidents and human rights groups. The freed dissidents \u2014 Ivonne Malleza Galano, Ignacio Mart\u00ednez Montejo and Isabel Haydee \u00c1lvarez \u2014 were threatened with \u201charsh sentences\u201d if they did not stop their anti-government actions, Amnesty said. <\/p>\n
