{"id":4235,"date":"2011-12-13T20:09:42","date_gmt":"2011-12-14T03:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=4235"},"modified":"2011-12-13T20:09:42","modified_gmt":"2011-12-14T03:09:42","slug":"mexico-new-murder-of-person-linked-to-the-movement-for-peace-with-justice-and-dignity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=4235","title":{"rendered":"Mexico: New murder of person linked to the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mexico: New murder of person linked to the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity<\/strong><br \/>\nTrinidad de la Cruz (@MPJD) &#8211; SIPAZ<\/p>\n<p>On 7 December 2011 was found the body of Trinidad de la Cuz, leader of the community of Xayakalan, Michoac\u00e1n, following his kidnapping the previous day by a group of armed men who took him while he was being accompanied by members of the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (MPJD).  Since 6 December, a commission of 12 persons from the MPJD had found themselves in the zone to participate in a community assembly in Santa Mar\u00eda Ostula.<\/p>\n<p>It should be remembered that Santa Mar\u00eda Ostula has been besieged by paramilitary groups since 2009, when the communards retook close to 1300 hectares that had been seized from them by \u201csmall property-owners\u201d in La Placita, Michoac\u00e1n.  The community has organized its own \u201ccommunal police,\u201d asserting its right to exercise its own forms of justice and self-defense.  This situation has resulted in the death of 27 persons and the disappearance of five others.
