{"id":3090,"date":"2011-09-12T21:53:18","date_gmt":"2011-09-13T04:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=3090"},"modified":"2011-09-12T21:53:18","modified_gmt":"2011-09-13T04:53:18","slug":"silencing-the-vision-and-witness-of-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=3090","title":{"rendered":"Silencing the Vision and Witness of Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Tell MOCHA to show &#8220;A Child&#8217;s View From Gaza&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nMiddle East Children&#8217;s Alliance<\/p>\n<p>Succumbing to enormous pressure from the Jewish Federation and the Jewish Community Relations Council of the East bay, the Museum of Children&#8217;s Art (MOCHA) in Oakland cancelled an exhibit of Palestinian children&#8217;s art called &#8220;A Child\u2019s View From Gaza.&#8221; MOCHA and the Middle East Children&#8217;s Alliance (MECA) had been working together for several months to bring this exhibit to the Bay Area community.<\/p>\n<p>On September 8, 2011, MOCHA&#8217;s Board President Hilmon Sorey informed MECA that the museum would not show the children&#8217;s artwork. The exhibit was due to open on September 24, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last 23 years, pro-Israel groups determined to silence the Palestinian perspective have repeatedly targeted MECA. Enough is enough.
