In whose name they allow themselves to hurt you?
\nTo what end? To what beginning?
\nHave they said as much to you?
\nHave they counted your tears?
\nHave they wiped your fears?<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I see a tear
\nin frozen moments and muted fear
\namong the smoke
\nin the rubbles
\nTiny hands clinching
\ntiny legs racing
\nfrom them
\nto them<\/p>\n

In whose name they allow themselves to hurt you?
\nSlogans your tender minds discard
\nGestures your tiny big hearts deride
\nSilent prosecution
\nand a noisy salutation
\nHave they counted those tears?<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I see a tear
\na horizon away
\nfrom a warm embrace
\na touch
\na smile
\na hug
\nDid they count those tears?
\nDid they wipe those fears?<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I hear the silence
\nyours and theirs
\ncanceling each other
\nforever
\nNow in Syria<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I hear the chant
\nfor a peace
\nthat will come
\npaid
\nwith your tears
\nyour fears
\nlittle ones
\nNow in Syria<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I drop one
\nor two
\nfor you
\nlittle ones
\nAs I did before
\nin Basra
\nand Gaza
\nNow in Syria<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I wonder
\nnow and forever
\nwhat have you done to deserve this?
\nin whose name can anyone answer?
\nin whose name can anyone muster?
\nthe might to wipe
\ntiny smiles
\nhearts
\nand tears
\nIn whose eyes can they look counting those tears?<\/p>\n

From my safe distance I decree
\nNow in Syria
\ninnocence is being exchanged
\nfor a past
\nfor a future
\nonly the little ones can see
\ndespite the smoke
\nand rubbles
\nwhere tears are counted in pairs
\nand fears
\nlike my safe distance
\nin light years.<\/p>\n
