{"id":10223,"date":"2012-05-29T08:14:50","date_gmt":"2012-05-29T15:14:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=10223"},"modified":"2012-05-29T08:14:50","modified_gmt":"2012-05-29T15:14:50","slug":"hezbollah-to-protect-lebanon-will-not-engage-in-syria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.crookedbough.com\/?p=10223","title":{"rendered":"Hezbollah to protect Lebanon, will not engage in Syria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hezbollah will never fight in Syria, job is to protect Lebanon<\/strong><br \/>\n27 May, 2012 &#8211; Shia Post<\/p>\n<p>Qaouk\u2019s comments came during a festival in the Nabatiyeh town of Nmeirieh, south Lebanon, honoring the resistance.<\/p>\n<p> The Hezbollah official said: \u201cThe forces of evil insist on dragging Lebanon into the fire raging in Syria\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p> He added that his party backs the majority of Syrians, who want reform in their country and also support the resistance in Lebanon.<\/p>\n<p> Qaouk emphasized that his party has never fielded fighters in Syria and has no intention to do so now, given that \u201cHezbollah is here to protect Lebanon from descending into the Syrian quagmire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> He also noted the importance of Hezbollah\u2019s weapons, saying they have played an important role in protecting Lebanese sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p> \u201dWhat Israel fears most in the region is the confrontation with the resistance in Lebanon,\u201d he said. \u201cThe weapons of the resistance have proved an effective weapon \u2026 in protecting sovereignty and [setting the stage for] liberating the remaining [occupied] land.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> He also praised Michel Sleiman\u2019s call for a national dialogue among the Lebanese, saying it would aid efforts to achieve national unity and ensure the country\u2019s stability.  <a href=\"http:\/\/en.shiapost.com\/?p=3080\" target=\"_blank\">&#8230;more<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"igit_tsb_button\" style=\"float: left; margin-right: 10px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/share?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.crookedbough.com%2F%3Fp%3D10223&amp;text=Hezbollah+to+protect+Lebanon%2C+will+not+engage+in+Syria&amp;count=horizontal&amp;via=\" style=\"\" class=\"twitter-share-button\">Tweet<\/a><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hezbollah will never fight in Syria, job is to protect Lebanon 27 May, 2012 &#8211; Shia Post Qaouk\u2019s comments came during a festival in the Nabatiyeh town of Nmeirieh, south Lebanon, honoring the resistance.
